Beltronics GT-7 Review/Preview

Beltronics radar detectors finally get a face lift.

Beltronics GT-7 Review

After years of "neglect," Beltronics will be offering some fresh new radar detectors in the coming months.  I couldn't be happier.  The first new product is the Beltronics GT-7 radar detector.

The Beltronics GT-7 radar detector, while not particularly "low-key" in appearance, certainly looks more purposeful-built than it's sibling the Escort Max and may appeal to a younger crowd than the more subtly-designed Escort Max.

Given the refresh, this should put Beltronics' new GT-7 above the performance of their Pro, Vector, and GX-65 series and more on par with Escort's top-of-the-line windshield-mount radar detectors like the Escort Passport Max, Max 2, and Redline.

The Beltronics GT-7 shares similar features and capabilities as both the Passport Max and Max2 radar detectors --at a slightly lower price point--which should place this relative bargain (along with the revised STi Magnum) at the top of the Beltronics line of windshield-mount radar detectors.

The lower slightly price point suggest to me that revised Beltronics line-up has the potential to be the "high-value" line of the ultra-premium detectors available from the parent company. The GT-7 feels to me like the equivalent of an iPhone "S" model that comes behind the primary release of a major model update (that first appears from Escort).
